Hasta la Vista

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Well, it's time. Today the last few things in the house will be packed & loaded into the van (sadly, this includes the computer.) Tomorrow, we will pile kids & cats into the cars & head on out of here. We will be taking four days to drive to Missouri, with stops in Utah, Denver, and Kansas. I am looking forward to the drive through the desert -- it's supposed to be a wonderful bloom year.

We probably won't get back online immediately, since I am assuming it will take a couple days to get the DSL hooked up & all that stuff once we arrive at the new house. So don't look for new posts for a week or so.

Goddess grant us safe journey, and I'll see you on the other side.

Clapotis and What Kind of Knitter Are You?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Here's my current first-string project, Knitty's Clapotis, in Berroco's Cotton Twist in a varigated blue-green. I have dropped five columns so far. I am purling the drop stitch instead of using markers, since all my markers are either packed up or in use (or I might just be lazy.). It's just a shade under halfway done, I hope to get a good amount of knitting done on it during the four-day road trip next week. I love the way the color pools look like some kind of Monet water lily painting.

And finally... because you can never have too many online quizzes... (I thought this was funny because the bit about packing is spot-on for me right now. When packing up all my craft stuff for the move, I specifically held back a very ambitious number of WIP's and queue projects just in case I ran out of knitting before the boxes arrived.)

Knitting Guru
You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting
and do it all the time. While finishing a piece
is the plan, you still love the process, and
can't imagine a day going by without giving
some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation
involves leaving ample space for the stash and
supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn
ends and you begin.

Blogging the Dome

The link is up for Blogging the Dome. It's a little sparse right now. No, honestly, it is absolutely naked; but when we get to our new home I promise to post pictures of the dome site.

Ave!

Welcome to the new blog. This will be a personal journal of my life as it changes, a chronicle of our cross-country move and new home, with fair amounts of yarn, sports, and cats (in no particular order) thrown in.

If you have come here looking for the Quake Report, my blog of my second & third seasons as a lineman for the California Quake, I apologize. That blog was a bit out of date (I hadn't updated it since my retirement in 2003) and so I recycled the address. I no longer play football, although I coached my son's Pop Warner team last year (and had a blast). I am still a total football nut & am very happy to be moving to a city that actually has an NFL team.

My life now is mostly centered on our move from southern California to central Missouri, and the geodesic dome that we will construct there. We'll be blogging the constuction separately, so watch for the link.

I am also a fanatical knitter & will use this space to showcase my finished objects, works in progress, stash enhancements, and various yarn prOn.

And just to round things out, here are some cute cat photos:
